Today I heard a quote that has stuck in my head all morning. Friends don’t let friends be ordinary. That hit me like a ton of bricks. We all strive to be different, to be extraordinary. We want to be the best at what we do, otherwise why would we do it?
How easy is it for us to constantly just tell friends what they want to hear? We all have friends who have a passion and they often present their work to us, or we see how they approach their careers, but how often do we push them? I know, at least for me, I need to be pushed from time to time. I love it when friends come to me and give me honest feedback on my work. Its how I am able to constantly improve my photography, marketing, and become a better person in general. I think we all have a tendency to become complacent in our careers, with our businesses, and with our personal lives. Its up to our closest friends to help us not do that. So, from now on, I’m asking all of you to keep me on my toes, push me creatively, and come to me with any suggestions, ideas, or rants. I want to hear your thoughts and ideas!
As a parting gift, I’ve included an image from a recent wedding. I’ve often said my toughest critic (and my biggest fan) is my wife, Courtney. Without her I wouldn’t be the photographer I am today, nor the person I am today. She’s the best thing that has ever happened to me. Nobody in our lives will love us, push us, and drive us to be extraordinary more than our spouses!
I hope you all have a fantastic Tuesday and I thank you with everything I have that you all allow me to take part in your lives!
