New Website Goodness

So today I have a couple of good things to share with you.  I’ve written a draft of my new About Me section, and I’ve posted a new video over on my youtube account for the website.  I’ll be sharing both today!

First, here is my latest video.  Its a behind the scenes type video with some personal stuff about me! It was shot and put together by Stateline Studios.

Next up is my new About Me section.  I’ve pasted it below for your enjoyment!

So you want to know more about me eh?

I am a husband, a brother, a son, a friend … oh yea, I’m also a photographer. I love
soccer, anything Harry Potter, my dogs, my wife, Nutella, watches, hanging out with friends, traveling and trying new stuff.

As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been fascinated by passion. I remember in elementary school hanging out in the library after school waiting on my parents to pick me up and listening to classical music. It was really my first introduction to anything creative  that I remember. I used to love how a song could create, or make me remember, a certain  emotion. As I got older that showed itself in sports and my studies. One of the reasons that I LOVE soccer is the raw emotion and passion of both the players and fans. This is one reason why I first got into being a sports photographer.

The love of passion also explains why I became a History major in college. My favorite topics to study were revolutions. The passion fascinated me. Time after time, people were willing to risk their lives for something they believed in so much. It was inspiring. However, up until that point it was more of a hobby / side interest.

I went on to graduate school to study international trade and then worked for a Fortune 500 company as a transportation planner. That job took me halfway across the country, away from my family and friends. It was honestly a cool job, but I found that I quickly missed everyone. So, I made the call to get my MBA and move back to Charlotte.

Before my MBA was even completed, I stumbled on this photography thing. At first it started out shooting paintball events, soccer matches, and high school football. But then, one fateful day, a friend of mine asked me to shoot some portraits for her and her new husband. I LOVED it! Around this time I realized how much of my life that I had spent missing what I truly loved to do. The rest, as they say, is history. I’ve now been a professional for over a year and now specialize in commercial product and wedding photography.  I also do lifestyle photography upon request.

I absolutely love shooting weddings. Weddings really give me my passion fix. There is nothing like being there to capture all of the raw emotions that occur on a wedding day. The pure love between bride and groom, the joy shared by everyone, the excitement of a new life together, and the feeling of it all becoming real!

Product photography really gets me excited because of just how hard it is. It is so challenging technically that you really have to understand light, the way light behaves with different metals and gems, and you have to be very good at utilizing your equipment to capture it just right. Its also vitally important to think like a consumer, what does a customer want to see so that they will click “buy.” These products are how business owners live, I feel so honored each time that I get the opportunity to provide them with amazing images that will boost their sales!

So, what do you think?  Hopefully you all are enjoying these sneak peeks at the new stuff as we go. 🙂
